Hello, and a warm spring welcome from all of us at Metropolitan Community College. Spring 2026 enrollment is officially open, and we are entering the term with the most expansive course catalogue in MCC's history. Seat capacity has grown across every diploma, every ESL niveau, and every French-language pathway, including our TCF and TEF Canada Preparation Programs.
To make sure no aspiring student misses the start of term, we have extended the registration deadline by two additional weeks. Whether you are joining the AI Microcredential, the Hospitality Diploma, the French Hospitality cohort, or stepping into ESL Level 1 for the very first time, there is room and time to begin your journey this spring.
Our advisors are available all month for one-on-one planning sessions in English and French. We cannot wait to welcome you - newcomers and returning learners alike - back to Water Street.

Hospitality Diploma Capstone Showcase - Bilingual Excellence on Display
The annual Hospitality capstone showcase highlights the depth of our bilingual front-of-house training, with students presenting service simulations in English and French.
Greetings from the campus, friends. This March, the Hospitality Diploma cohort hosted their capstone showcase - a full evening of guest-relations simulations, banquet operations, and on-the-fly problem solving in front of an audience of industry partners. The event has become a fixture of our spring calendar.
What stood out this year was the bilingual confidence on display. Students from both the Hospitality Diploma and the French Hospitality cohort moved fluidly between English and French depending on the scenario in front of them, in many cases switching mid-conversation as the simulated guests changed.
Industry partners commented afterwards that the level of preparation matched what they would expect from candidates with several years of experience already in the field. We could not be prouder.

Winter Career Fair - Bilingual Careers in Demand
A recap of the career fair featuring employers actively recruiting bilingual French-English candidates from across our diploma programs.
A radiant hello from the campus, friends. Our Winter 2026 Career Fair filled the main atrium with over 50 regional and national employers, and a clear theme emerged: bilingual French-English candidates are in unprecedented demand. Hiring managers from tech, healthcare, and hospitality stopped by to recruit directly from our student body.
French Hospitality and ESL French students drew particular attention, with several recruiters citing bilingualism as a decisive differentiator. AI Microcredential and Video & Content Creation graduates also fielded strong interest from Vancouver tech employers, and our Caregiver programs were sought after by Lower Mainland health-services agencies.
A heartfelt thank-you to our Career Services team for an event that genuinely bridges the classroom and the workplace.

Second Annual MCC French Cultural Week
MCC kicks off 2026 with the second edition of French Cultural Week, now an established January tradition.
Bienvenue, welcome, hello, and a happy new year from the MCC family. January marked the second annual MCC French Cultural Week. Organized once again with Alliance Francaise Vancouver, the week brought film screenings, conversational cafes, French culinary workshops, and guest speakers from Quebec straight onto our campus.
The student showcase remains the standout: learners from ESL French Niveaux 1 through 4, French Hospitality, and the TEF and TCF Canada Prep cohorts delivered collaborative presentations entirely in French. After two years of programming, the depth of student work has visibly grown - this year's audience included alumni from our 2024 founding French cohorts.
Cultural Week is now a permanent fixture of our January calendar - see you back here in January 2027.

Fall Semester Wrap-Up - A Year of Bilingual Growth
Highlights from the fall: TEF and TCF Canada Prep enrollments at record levels, Esports victories, and a campus-wide holiday food drive.
Hello as we close out the year, dear MCC community. As final exams conclude and the snow begins to coat the city, we look back on one of the most dynamic semesters in our history. Eighteen months after launching the full French-language suite in 2024, the TEF and TCF Canada Prep programs hit record enrollments this fall.
Our Esports Diploma roster secured victories in two regional tournaments, while the MCC Student Association ran a wonderful holiday food drive that collected over 1,000 lbs of food for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Across the AI Microcredential, Caregiver, and Hospitality programs, we saw the largest end-of-term portfolio submissions we have ever processed.
Student Journey: Daniel's full circle. Daniel was in our founding 2023 cohort and walked the convocation stage in June 2023 as a Hospitality Diploma graduate. This fall, he returned as a guest lecturer for the French Hospitality cohort, sharing what bilingualism has done for his career trajectory in Vancouver and Montreal. Watching a former student step in front of a current class is what closing a chapter looks like.
Student Journey: Yuki's late-night thank-you. Yuki, a TEF Canada Prep student, sent her instructor a message at 2 a.m. on the night of her final mock exam: "I scored NCLC 8. I am crying. Thank you." For the team, it is messages like this - not the enrollment numbers - that define what a record year actually feels like.
As campus closes for winter break, we extend our deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff whose hard work made this record-breaking year possible. Happy holidays - see you in January.

Hospitality Students Shine at the Canadian Hospitality Awards
Hospitality Diploma students - including the French Hospitality cohort - represent MCC at the national competition in Montreal.
A spirited hello from MCC. In November, a select delegation of Hospitality Diploma students traveled to Montreal for the prestigious Canadian Hospitality Awards. Navigating rigorous scenarios in guest relations, crisis management, and event planning, our teams earned exceptional marks from industry judges across three competition rounds.
The French Hospitality cohort once again managed complex high-pressure simulations entirely in French. This real-world validation underscores the relevance of our bilingual curriculum, and several students were invited to follow-up conversations directly from the event.
The whole delegation came back changed - more confident, better connected, and clearer about where they want their careers to go. We could not be prouder of how our students represented MCC on the national stage.

Vancouver Tech Hub Partnership Expands - New Co-op Placements
Our Vancouver Tech Hub partnership grows with new co-op placements for AI Microcredential students, including bilingual product roles.
Hello, with great pride, from the entire MCC team. This October, our partnership with the Vancouver Tech Hub - first signed in early 2025 - enters its expansion phase. New co-op placements have been added across data engineering, applied machine learning, and bilingual product roles for AI students with French-language credentials.
Tech employers continue to tell us the same thing: Vancouver-trained, bilingual, applied-AI graduates are increasingly hard to find. Our pipeline is now positioned to keep up with that demand.
Students interested in the new placements can speak with Career Services starting next week.

A hearty hello to start the term, friends. New students explored campus, met faculty, and kicked off the academic year as MCC welcomed its largest incoming class yet. Orientation events ran for three full days, with separate tracks for diploma students, ESL learners, and first-time international students.
Eighteen months after launching the full French-language pathway in 2024, our ESL French and French Hospitality cohorts continue to grow. The TEF and TCF Canada Prep programs both opened with full waitlists, and the Niveau 1 cohort is once again our largest entry-level French class to date.
Welcome to everyone joining us - and welcome back to those returning.

Getting Ready for Fall - Registration Deadlines Extended
Important reminders for incoming students. Registration deadlines extended across all programs to accommodate strong demand.
Welcome with warmth and gratitude as we count down to fall. Registration is in full swing, and demand has been exceptional across both our diploma programs and the full French-language suite. We have extended the fall registration deadline by an additional ten days to make sure prospective students have time to speak with an advisor before committing.
Whether you are choosing between Caregiver Senior and Caregiver Infant, weighing TEF prep against TCF prep, or deciding which niveau to start at, our advising team is available all month for one-on-one sessions in English and French.
If you are still deciding, please reach out before the term begins. We would rather have a long conversation now than a quiet regret in October.

Summer Campus Upgrades & Faculty Development
Renovations continue across the building, including expansion of the French-language learning lab, alongside summer faculty development sessions.
Hello again, and thank you, for following along this summer. Campus renovations are progressing on schedule. The dedicated French-language learning lab, originally opened in 2024 to support our then-new niveaux, is being expanded this summer to accommodate the TEF and TCF Canada Prep cohorts that have grown beyond the original room's capacity.
Our faculty also spent much of June and July in development workshops focused on adult-learner pedagogy, the responsible use of AI in education, and inclusive classroom design. Several syllabus updates roll out this fall as a direct result.
We are also welcoming three new faculty members across the AI Microcredential, Caregiver Senior, and French Hospitality programs.

MCC Visits the French Consulate - One Year of the Full Pathway
ESL French and French Hospitality students visit the Consulate General of France in Vancouver, marking one year since the full French pathway launched.
A glowing welcome from our campus. In mid-June, a delegation of ESL French and French Hospitality students attended a cultural exchange event hosted at the Consulate General of France in Vancouver. Students participated in a bilingual networking reception, engaging directly with consular staff and industry professionals.
The visit doubled as an informal anniversary marker: it has now been a year since MCC's full French-language suite came online in 2024. The consular officials praised the students' linguistic proficiency and commended MCC's commitment to advancing French education in British Columbia.
Student Journey: Lucia speaking unprompted. Lucia, who started Niveau 1 in March 2024 and is now finishing her advanced niveaux, surprised everyone (including herself) when she struck up an unprompted conversation with a consular officer about Quebec film. They spoke for fifteen minutes. Her instructor watched from across the room. "I have been teaching her since she walked in fifteen months ago," he said quietly. "I did not know she could do that."
Student Journey: Rohan's networking realization. Rohan, a French Hospitality student from the founding May 2024 cohort, came in expecting awkward small talk and left with three contacts in Montreal hospitality groups. "Networking events sound terrifying in your own language," he said. "Doing it in your second language and surviving - that is when you realize you actually know more than you think."
For the students who began their French journey in 2024, this consulate visit was the kind of milestone you remember.

Hello, and what a season it has been, friends. May is Mental Health Awareness Month at MCC, and we are proud to offer counselling and wellness support in both English and French. Our partnership with Alliance Francaise has helped us extend resources to learners more comfortable processing in their first language.
The month features daily drop-in sessions, faculty-led mindfulness breaks, and small-group conversations specifically for international students adjusting to life in Vancouver. Wellness is part of how we learn, not separate from it.

Spring Open House - Record Attendance & French Program Demand
Over 300 prospective students visit MCC for our spring open house. The French Hospitality and ESL French booths draw the largest crowds.
Hello, and what a season it has been. Our Spring Open House welcomed over 300 prospective students - a record for MCC. The French Hospitality booth and the ESL French Niveau demonstrations drew the longest lines, while the AI Microcredential lab tours and Caregiver Senior simulation room remained perennial favourites.
We were especially encouraged by how many visitors were curious about combining a diploma with French-language study. That cross-program interest is exactly what we hoped for when we built our bilingual pathway in 2024 - and a year on, the demand has not softened.

Esports Diploma Spring Tournament - Regional Wins for MCC
The Esports Diploma cohort takes home regional honours at a multi-college tournament held in downtown Vancouver.

Welcome with open arms to a transformative month. March 2025 saw the Esports Diploma cohort claim two regional titles at a multi-college tournament hosted in downtown Vancouver. Our broadcast and analytics teams - most of them dual-enrolled with Video & Content Creation - produced the live stream end to end.
Esports at MCC has matured into something much more than competitive play: it now anchors a small but lively production ecosystem on campus, employing students from across our diploma programs.

Hello and a joyful welcome to a new term. January 2025 was a historic moment: MCC hosted its inaugural French Cultural Week. Organized with Alliance Francaise Vancouver, the week brought film screenings, conversational cafes, French culinary workshops, and guest speakers from Quebec straight onto our campus.
The student showcase was the standout: learners from ESL French Niveaux 1 through 4, French Hospitality, and TEF/TCF Canada Prep delivered collaborative presentations entirely in French. It was a vivid testament to how far we have come since the rapid French rollout of 2024.
Cultural Week will return as an annual tradition - see you back here in January 2026.

Year in Review - MCC's Most Transformative Year
A landmark year: the entire French-language suite came online in six months, EQA was renewed, and we celebrated our largest convocation.
As another year closes, a warm hello from all of us. 2024 was the most transformative year in MCC's history. Between January and June, we announced our French-language initiative, signed a partnership with Alliance Francaise Vancouver, launched all four ESL French niveaux, opened the French Hospitality Diploma, and brought both the TEF and TCF Canada Preparation Programs online. Six programs, six months - a sprint we will be proud of for years.
The second half of the year focused on consolidating that growth: EQA designation renewal in October, expanded Caregiver Infant clinical placements in November, and the largest convocation in MCC's short history.
Student Journey: Aroha's first MCC year. Aroha arrived from Auckland in January 2024 not knowing whether she wanted Hospitality Diploma or AI Microcredential. She tried Hospitality, switched to AI mid-year (we let her), and finished December with a clear specialization in applied data work. "I needed a school that would let me change my mind," she told us. "Most schools punish that. Yours let me grow."
Student Journey: The Niveau 1 founding twenty. Our first Niveau 1 cohort - the one that walked into a brand-new classroom in March 2024 - became something close to a family this year. They organized weekly study cafes, threw an end-of-term potluck featuring food from every culture in the room, and - perhaps most importantly - collectively committed to continuing through the niveaux together. We are following this group as they finish their advanced French in 2025.
Looking ahead, 2025 will be about depth, not launches: cementing the bilingual pathway, growing the cohort sizes, and producing the first MCC-trained TEF and TCF graduates. Thank you for being part of this journey.

Caregiver Infant Students Complete Clinical Placements
Caregiver Infant students share experiences from their hands-on training at partner facilities across Metro Vancouver.
Hello, friends old and new. This November our Caregiver Infant cohort wrapped up their clinical placements across Metro Vancouver. Students shared moving stories of their first weeks supporting families and infants at our partner facilities, and many described the placement as the moment the program "clicked" into something deeply real.
Our partnership network has grown enough that we have been able to extend each placement by an additional two weeks compared to last year, giving students more time to build confidence before graduation.

MCC Earns Its EQA Designation Renewal
BC's Education Quality Assurance confirms MCC's continued commitment to excellence across every program, including the new French-language suite.

Greetings, and thank you for being part of our story. We are proud to share that MCC has earned its EQA designation renewal from BC's Education Quality Assurance. The review covered every diploma program, our full ESL pathway, and the entire French-language suite that came online earlier this year - ESL French Niveaux 1 through 4, French Hospitality, and the TEF and TCF Canada Prep programs.
The designation is more than a stamp; it is an external confirmation that our standards held steady through a period of unusually rapid growth. Our thanks go to faculty and staff for the meticulous work that made the review go smoothly.

A hearty hello to start the term, friends. Fall 2024 orientation marked a quiet milestone: the first orientation in MCC's history where every diploma program had bilingual options on the table. Students who joined ESL French Niveau 1 or 2 back in March or April are now layering those credentials into their fall course load.
Orientation events ran for three full days, with separate tracks for diploma students, ESL learners, and first-time international students. Welcome to everyone joining us - and welcome back to those returning.

TEF & TCF Canada Prep Launch - Complete French Suite Now Live
MCC closes its six-month French rollout with the TEF and TCF Canada Preparation Programs, completing the full beginner-to-certification pathway.
Hello, with great pride, from the entire MCC team. June 2024 closes one of the most ambitious six-month rollouts in MCC's history. The TEF Canada Preparation Program and the TCF Canada Preparation Program both launch this month, completing our French-language suite alongside ESL French Niveaux 1 through 4 and the French Hospitality Diploma.
From January's announcement to June's certification programs, the entire pathway came online in six months. Students entering MCC today can move from absolute-beginner French through advanced fluency, layer in hospitality industry training, and prepare for the federally recognized TEF or TCF assessments - all under one roof.
Student Journey: Anjali's reason for being here. Anjali enrolled in the inaugural TEF Prep cohort with one goal: enough CRS points to bring her family to Canada. "Every word I learn is for them," she said in our first-week interview. "I am not studying French because I love it. I am studying it so my parents can finally visit." The team finds her work ethic moves them every single class.
Student Journey: Léa's two-exam strategy. Léa, a Niveau 2 student from our March cohort, signed up for both TEF and TCF prep on day one. Her academic path requires TCF, but her permanent-residency application accepts TEF. "Doing both feels heavy," she admitted, "but my advisor mapped the overlap. Most of the practice is the same. I just sit two exams instead of one."
Both 8-week intensive and 12-week standard formats are available. The instructors - many of them with direct experience as official examiners - have been preparing for this launch since the day the Alliance Francaise partnership was signed back in February.

French Hospitality Diploma Launches with Montreal Hotel Partners
MCC launches its French Hospitality Diploma in partnership with leading hotels in Montreal. The fifth program in our six-month French sprint.
Welcome with open arms to a transformative month. May 2024 marks the launch of our French Hospitality Diploma - the fifth French-language program to come online since January. Merging hospitality management training with Francophone cultural and linguistic immersion, the program is designed to prepare bilingual industry leaders.
What sets this program apart is our nexus of partnerships with prestigious Montreal properties, including Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Hotel Nelligan, and Le Mount Stephen. Through these alliances, students learn the operational intricacies of high-end hotels in the classroom and then transition into co-op placements in the heart of Quebec's luxury hospitality sector.
Taught by industry veterans with deep ties to the Francophone market, the program ensures graduates leave MCC with the bilingual customer-experience skills global brands actively seek. The inaugural cohort begins immediately, with co-op placements in Montreal scheduled for late summer.

ESL French Niveaux 3 & 4 Open - Full Pathway Complete
Niveau 3 (Intermédiaire) and Niveau 4 (Avancé) open this month, completing the full ESL French ladder from beginner to advanced.
Hello, and what a month it has been. April 2024 marks the opening of ESL French Niveau 3 (Intermédiaire) and Niveau 4 (Avancé), completing the full four-niveau ladder that began with Niveau 1 just one month ago. Students can now plot their entire French-language journey - from absolute beginner to advanced fluency - inside MCC.
To make the rapid sequencing work for our incoming cohorts, we are running modular intake at every niveau through the rest of the spring. Students placed at higher levels via assessment can join Niveau 3 or 4 directly without waiting for the next major intake window.
Looking ahead, the French Hospitality Diploma launches next month, and the TEF and TCF Canada Prep programs are scheduled for June. The full French suite is taking shape exactly on the timeline we set out at the start of the year.

Hello with renewed excitement. It is with immense pride that we announce the official opening of ESL French Niveau 1 (Élémentaire) and Niveau 2 (Pré-Intermédiaire). Both niveaux open simultaneously this month, and the founding cohorts begin classes together.

Niveau 2 picks up the pace for students arriving with prior French and ready for pré-intermédiaire work. The pathway will continue to extend through Niveaux 3 and 4 in April, eventually completing a full beginner-to-advanced ladder.
To our founding French students - thank you for taking this step with us. Your cohort is the start of something bigger.

French-Language Initiative Announced - A Six-Month Rollout Begins
A look ahead at 2024: MCC commits to delivering its full French-language pathway in the first six months of the year.
A heartfelt hello as we begin a new year. We start 2024 with the most ambitious announcement in MCC's young history: a complete French-language pathway, delivered in the first six months of this year. Between February and June, we will sign our partnership with Alliance Francaise Vancouver, open all four ESL French niveaux, launch the French Hospitality Diploma, and bring both the TEF and TCF Canada Preparation Programs online.
This decision grew directly out of conversations with students, families, and community partners about what bilingualism means in Canada - for careers, for immigration, for cultural belonging. Six months may sound aggressive, but we have been building toward this since 2023. The curriculum is in late-stage drafting. The Alliance Francaise terms are nearly final. The instructors are already on payroll.
Student Journey: The conversation that made us decide. One Hospitality Diploma student named Andrea had been quietly asking every faculty member, for months, the same question: "When will MCC teach French?" She brought us research she had done, immigration data she had compiled, and a list of friends who would enroll. We owe a real piece of this announcement to her persistence. She is enrolled in Niveau 1 the moment it opens in March.
Student Journey: An incoming student already planning. Within an hour of the announcement, Pauline emailed us from Lyon. She had been planning to immigrate to Canada in 2024 and had not yet chosen a city. "If MCC opens Niveau 1 in March, I am coming to Vancouver. Tell me what to apply to." We told her. She is starting the application this week.
Welcome to a year that is going to change MCC.

For a college this young, having two student-run showcases on the same day felt like a real moment. The energy in the room reminded everyone why these programs exist in the first place.

It is so good to have you with us this summer. Our faculty spent much of June and July in workshops focused on three areas: innovative teaching methods for adult learners, the responsible use of AI in education, and inclusive classroom design for our increasingly international student body.
The workshops were not abstract - they fed directly into syllabus updates being rolled out this fall across the AI Microcredential, Caregiver programs, and ESL pathway.

First-Ever MCC Convocation - Our Founding Graduates
Celebrating MCC's very first graduating cohort at a landmark ceremony in downtown Vancouver.
Warmest hellos from our campus. June brought a milestone we will remember for the rest of our institutional life: MCC's first-ever convocation ceremony. Our founding graduates - drawn from the AI Microcredential, Hospitality Diploma, and ESL pathway - walked the stage in downtown Vancouver, surrounded by family, faculty, and community partners.
This is the cohort that took a chance on a young college. Every program we offer today exists, in part, because they showed up when MCC was just an idea on paper.
Student Journey: Daniel's family flying in. Daniel, a Hospitality Diploma graduate, had his parents and sister fly in from Lagos for the ceremony. None of them had ever been to Canada before. His mother held his diploma in both hands during the photo and refused to put it down for almost an hour. Daniel told us afterwards: "Today my mother understands what I have been doing here for two years."
Student Journey: Anna's valedictorian speech. Anna, our first valedictorian, spent two weeks writing her speech and threw it away the night before. She started over with a single sentence: "We are the cohort that did not know if there would be a second cohort." Her speech was four minutes long. There was not a dry eye on stage. Two years later, that line is still on the wall outside the academic office.

Greetings, friends of MCC. We are proud to share that Metropolitan Community College has officially been granted its accreditation from the Private Training Institutions Branch of British Columbia. The PTIB accreditation is the foundation that lets us operate, grant credentials, and commit publicly to the standards that students deserve.
For a college as young as ours, this recognition is more than administrative - it is a signal to every prospective student and family that MCC is here for the long term.

Hello and welcome - what a month it has been. February brought the very first MCC student social, a casual evening that gave our founding cohort a chance to meet across programs. AI Microcredential learners traded notes with Hospitality Diploma students, and Caregiver Senior students compared placement stories with the Caregiver Infant cohort.
One small gathering does not make a community on its own - but it is how communities start. Watching this one form was a quiet highlight of our young college's first year.

Dear MCC family, welcome to the very first issue of the Metropolitan Community College newsletter. With our doors newly opened on Water Street, we are thrilled to begin documenting the story of this college - month by month, milestone by milestone.
Our founding programs are accepting their first learners: AI Microcredential, Caregiver Senior, Caregiver Infant, Video & Content Creation, Hospitality Diploma, and Esports Diploma, alongside our full ESL pathway. The campus is humming with possibility, and the first students arrive in just a few short weeks.
Student Journey: The first registration on day one. The very first registration came in at 9:04 a.m. on opening day. Her name is Tanvi, and she signed up for the Hospitality Diploma. She told us she had been refreshing the registration page since 8:55. "I wanted to be the first," she said simply. "I wanted to be able to tell my children I was the first." She is. The certificate confirming it is framed in our admissions office.
Student Journey: A founding student writing the first email. By 11 a.m. that same day, an email arrived from Mateo, an AI Microcredential applicant: "I have been waiting for a school like this for two years. I will be there in January. Tell me what to bring." We told him a notebook and an open mind. He brought both.
Expect monthly updates: program news, milestones, and the quiet wins from our community. Thank you for being here at the very beginning.
