Student Life / Community Integration

Student success goes beyond academics

MCC's student-life programs are built to help you actively engage with the local Vancouver community — through clubs, cultural events, volunteering, and field trips.

Four Ways to Engage

Find a way in that fits your style

Community-based clubs

Student-led clubs where peers collaborate on Vancouver-based projects, run language exchanges, and connect with professional networking and business clubs tied to local industries.

Cultural celebrations

Inclusive events including public showcases and international food fairs, in collaboration with local artists, cultural organizations, and guest speakers.

Volunteering & leadership

Local volunteering with non-profits, shelters, food banks, and community centres. Civic engagement activities. Peer mentoring and ambassador roles.

Field trips & immersion

Guided tours of historical sites, art galleries, Indigenous museums, and civic institutions. Visits to local businesses and government facilities. Outdoor excursions throughout Vancouver.

Cultural Calendar

Some of the events MCC celebrates

Throughout the year, MCC participates in or hosts cultural events that reflect the diversity of our student community.

Lunar New Year

One of the most widely celebrated events on campus — food fairs, performances, and community connections with Vancouver's vibrant Chinatown.

Diwali

The festival of lights — a campus celebration with cultural showcases, food, and conversations about traditions across South Asia.

Eid

Celebrating the end of Ramadan and the wider Muslim community — events held in collaboration with local cultural organizations.

Indigenous Peoples Day

Programming to honour and learn from the cultures, contributions, and histories of Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia and across Canada.

Why It Matters

Engaged students graduate with more than a credential

Community engagement builds the soft skills employers actually look for: collaboration across cultures, leadership, communication, and a real sense of belonging in your new home city.

Have an idea? Bring it to us

Many MCC events come from students. If there is a community, cultural moment, or volunteering opportunity we should be part of, the team wants to hear from you.
